Voltage Divider Scale Factor & Loading Error Calculator

For a resistive high voltage divider, enter the high and low voltage arm resistances to get the scale factor — then add the input impedance of your recording instrument to see the loading error it introduces into the ratio.

Total resistance of the HV arm.
Resistance of the LV arm tapped for measurement.
Input resistance of the peak voltmeter / oscilloscope / recorder.
Test voltage applied to the divider.
Nominal scale factor
LV arm output (ideal)
Loading error

Loading error here is the ratio shift from a finite recorder input resistance placed across the LV arm (R2 in parallel with R_in). It models a resistive divider on DC or low-frequency AC; capacitive and impulse behaviour also depend on frequency and stray capacitance. DEMIKS characterises the full divider-and-recorder chain against IEC 60060-2.
